Can't control boost
OK I have a turbo xs boost controller on my turbo and I wanted to set it to 15 psi but even when its completely closed I still boost like there was nothing stopping it. I know what your thinking improper installation and I'm sure your right but I installed it just like the guide said. So Im going to show you a picture and maybe you guys can give me some ideas. I know this answer is going to be something so simple but something that I would never think of. so here it is
![]() the lower hose goes to my wastegate actuatio the left hose goes to my pressure hose.

Re: Can't control boost
Try swapping the hoses on the MBC and see if that works.

Re: Can't control boost
just to clear it up when the controller is closed I shouldn't be able to get any boost right?

Re: Can't control boost
Do you have an aftermarket boost gauge or are you just running the stocker? Try closing it all the way, doing a pull, and then opening it up a bit and then doing another pull and see what you have for boost differences (if any).

Re: Can't control boost
Yea I have an aftermarket boost gauge and it's accurate ok here it is I think I've found something here see if you can help me make sense of it ok.
The hose circled in this picture also goes to the same place my other line which is hooked into the boost controller goes. ANd it was just dangling there not attached to anything??? SO I clamp it shut and try and run boost and I can't... I open up my boost controller still no boost. SO now Im thinking thats the line my controller should be hooked into. WHich only leaves one question> What and where does the one Im hooked into go now?

Re: Can't control boost
You have the lines hooked up backwards, and you have it screwed the wrong way
You want your pressure source to come in the "bottom" fitting (so it pushes up against the spring that is adjusted by the screw) and your output to the WGA to connect to the "side" port. With the screw all the way out, the spring tension is very low, and the boost pressure will be able to lift the ball off the seat and actuate the WGA. With the screw screwed in more, the spring gets stiffer, requiring more boost pressure to lift the ball and make it's way to the WGA, thereby rasing boost. So, hook it up right, and start with the screw all the way out. This goes for all ball and spring MBCs, which everything built in the last 5 years or so will be. The old bleeder types were in fact the opposite, but you don't see those any more, they suck for boost threshold.

Re: Can't control boost
Ok i'm going to switch that around first thing in the morning. Just a question does anyone know what that extra hose is for than?\
\ these were the install instructions the brass nipple is definatly the one on the left though. Quick & Easy to Install Simply cut the waste gate pressure hose and insert the supply pressure hose onto the brass nipple of the boost controller. Insert the waste gate supply hose onto the blue colored nipple. Secure the hoses with hose clamps. Alternatively, use the hose extension which eliminates the need to cut the pre-existing pressure hose. The Boost Controller can be mounted with the mounting bracket.

Re: Can't control boost
I know this isn't the same brand of MBC that you have, but it explains the lines and stuff.

Re: Can't control boost
There they have it going into the vacuum line from my BOV. DO I have to do that or is that an alternate installation.

Re: Can't control boost
I followed that joe p boost controller diagram. And it worked like a charm thanks man..
On a side note.. I don't get to say this often or ever, but Kevin you were wrong...I guess Turbo xs makes them a little differently but the way I had it was right.

Re: Can't control boost
First time for everything
Perhaps whatever makes it different is also what makes it a piece of shit. I'll have to get my hands on one and see why it's backwards.
