Shitty gas mileage

I am only getting around 200 miles to the tank of gas right now which at like 33 bucks to fill up sucks. I havent been driving hard and have actually been feathering the gas for the mostpart. I dont know what is causing this but could it have something to do with me replaceing the cat with a straight pipe a while ago? The check engine light is on so i think it messed up the O2 sensors or something but would that kill gas mileage?

yes replace the o2 sensors, plug , wire, fuel filter. By the way gas price is going now now.

I was getting 220 miles to the tank, all in city driving. I'm got 379 miles on my last tank..

Re: Shitty gas mileage

Yes, a bad o2 sensor will fuck your gas mileage like no other. Run the CEL and see what comes up, but I bet its the o2 sensor.

Re: Shitty gas mileage

Sure it's the o2 sensor. Anytime you mess with ignition, exhaust and other things you will loose mileage. I've always been able to push more than 400 miles on a tank when I had mine.

Re: Shitty gas mileage

Putting a straight pipe definitly lowers your miled per gallon ratio. I think you lose like 2-3 miles per gallon when you do that. There this ternado thing that you can put in the throtle to get bette gas millage.

Don't spread bad information. That tornado thing is a pile of steaming shit, and always will be.

Uh...wrong. Replacing things such as spark plug wires and coil packs with better aftermarket parts will INCREASE your gas mileage a little.

Re: Shitty gas mileage

Anything that helps the engine flow better will INCREASE gas mileage. The #2 o2 sensor sholdn't cause a decrease in gas mileage because it only checks for catylitic converter efficiency. The front o2 is the one concern with afr and gas mileage. What kind of boost are you running you could always turn it down a bit, i'd rather keep it up and drive fast and enjoy it otherwise i'd have a civic.

Re: Shitty gas mileage

Yea man, keep boost up, drive fast when you feel the need while being safe, and if you are that concerned, drive easy on her. Get your ignition stuff checked out and defiantly the o2 sensor. I get around 200mi per tank if its mostly city driving. It's what I deal with, fill up about once a week. Thats why when im done school, its time for a beater(maybe civic haha). I'd have one now but insurance sucks.

Re: Shitty gas mileage

200? lol I was getting 120 before, I bet you I still need to replace the 02 sensor as well. I am getting 210 after replacing the plugs, air ail filter, then I still need to do 02 and wires.

Re: Shitty gas mileage

My best per tank was 210 MP Tank, that was just with 3 inch exhaust turbo back, 1g bov, ractive filter, and all the free mods. Oh it was a test pipe no converter. The only cel reading was second o2 sensor so everything was working fine that i know off. Cannot wait to see it now when i get my baby done lol

Re: Shitty gas mileage

I've heard both about the Tornado, some say it works and some say it doesn't. I think it depends more on the specific car than anything else. And damn you guys are getting horrible gas mileage. I can get 325 easy on my 01 monte and the tank isn't much bigger, in fact, I don't even know if it is any bigger, but it's a hell of a bigger car. I can't remember what I got in my RS when I drove it, but I know it wasn't that bad. I used to drive to the lake every weekend and I'd fill up on Friday before I left, drive 3 hours highway and then city driving all weekend and still have a little over 1/4 before I came home on Sunday.

Re: Shitty gas mileage

The tornado piece of shit won't do anything on a turbo car (i doubt it does anything on na cars) I turbo spins the air and creates turbulance (thats how they say the tornado works) the only thing it does is block the airflow. Which would reduce your gas mileage.
