New newb here, HELP PLEASE!

Well, i've had a 91 civic LX for a year now. car's been great to me but a few weeks ago i started noticing in a couple of gears, as i accelerated, the rpm needle would jump ahead a little bit then go right back to normal. (not the clutch). As time went on it did it in more of the gears and started to jump further. I thought maybe something was wrong with the actual gauge, because i didn't feel the engine's RPMs actually fluctuating like that. Yesterday, however, all that changed. in any gear the car lurches back and forth when you try to accelerate. The red LCD blinked 16 times, i don't know what that code means. the mechanic around the corner said it was the distributor (400$), and i don't know if i should trust him. I watched the graphs on the computer and as soon as i hit the throttle they went nuts also. anyone know what is really wrong with my car? is it simple or not?

16 is the fuel injector code..that mechanic is leading you around by your penis... And it makes sense as well, no fuel..car lurches..

alright, is there a homemade way to check that it's the injectors and not the distributor?

Put a stethoscope on them, you should hear them clicking...Oh and, after reading your post again..it wont blink 16 times, it will be one long blink and 6 short, then repeat..so youve got a different code if that.

WRONG... Only B series do that.

16 blinks will be fuel injector code. Just like how my ecu blinked 17 times when my speedo cable popped out
