1987 XJ6 production totals

Picking up our first XJ6 this saturday, an '87, and was wondering
if anyone could educate me as to why the production was so low that
year .

It was a short production year because of early introduction of the XJ40 ("new" square-headlight "1988" XJ6) by March of '87.
