VIN Numbers??

Does anyone know where I can check my VIN numbers on my 1968 Chevelle? The car has just completed a frame off restoration and I would like to know more about the car, correct motor, color and that sort of thing. I went to a couple sights but they could not check cars older than 1981 or they wanted more digits on the VIN? Any help on this would be great. Thanks in advance!
Mike

Re: VIN Numbers??

Post it here - I have a '68 and took some notes and printed some pages.
Also post the engine number should look something like the vin, as the last six digits should match if it's the original engine.
