knocking at 3000 rpm

I have 91 2.0l that just rebuilt the top end . the motor sounds great until it gets to 2600 rpm the car starts to knock . There is no power loss it was knocking before i took apart the head. realy stumped, cant help thinking its electronic. I any ideas would great

I know this isn't really a knocking fix, but mine kinda knocked when I redid mine. I couldn't even get it to run right. Anyway.... Did you disconnect the battery? that would reset the fuel inj. also... did you time it? That could be a knocking issue. That's all I can think of. GOOD LUCK.

thanks for the reply ,timing good ,knock sensors new , put vag 5150 on it no errors.vw said drop pan and check rods.
