w0oho0! i just smashed into a tree!!!

yea. well it wasn't in my civic thank god.

i got out of summer school at 10am. had some friends pick me up around 1pm from home to give me a ride to dmv since my civic's clutch is shot. so they come get me and we stop at my moms job to get all the paperwork to register the chrysler new yorker that i got as a beater/winter car. its like 100 degrees outside the dmv so i go in and so i wait in line for like 15 minutes. then i have to get in another line and wait for my number to get called. waited like 2 hrs and finally get up there and get my plates for the car.

i head back home to get the car and its pouring. i get home and wait for the rain to break so i could screw the plates on. i leave my house and i'm following dan and sean back to west haven from oxford. we're in orange and they blow a light that i had no chance of making so i stop. i checked my voicemail because i had no service at some point in the ride. it was dan's mom and she was looking for him because his grandfather was in the hospital or some shit. so i call dans cell phone 2 times but no one picks up so i speed up a little bit, but not ridiculously because its a damn chrysler to try and catch up because i didnt know which way they were going and i figured dan should know because its important i guess. i see his tail lights and i'm going along fine. a little faster than i should have been going but i didn't think i would lose control.

came up on a corner so i slowed down a bit and tryed to turn but the fuckin thing kept going straight towards the side of the road. i tryed to get it to turn but it wasn't to i figured i'd just hop up on the grass and be able to correct it once i slowed a little more. well i went off the road but definitly couldn't correct it and smashed straight into a fucking tree.

the hood was fucked from what i saw in the driver seat so i knew it was really bad. shit started steaming so i stumbled out of the car and ran across the road. some dude in a pathfinder stopped and asked if i was ok. i was still pretty dazed but felt fine. few more people passed and stopped. bunch of neighborhood people came out too. this was a back road. the lady across the road called the cops. they came and took my information and blocked the road. we got a tow truck and they gave me a ticket.

my nose hurts like a bitch, my neck is just beginning to hurt, i cut my leg and i have a headache. the steering wheel was bent as fuck.

i'm mostly just upset because i have no job, my honda needs a clutch, i'm having trouble finding a job where i moved, and my mom was nice enough to help me out and insure ($500), buy ($50), and register ($120) the car for me so i could get to school (and summer school) and find a job and get there too. so i'm pretty upset about that. and the car was in perfect condition it was kinda nice too. so i feel really bad.

it sucks man. now i'm back stuck with nothing and i feel like shit because i fucked up shit more than it was.

(mods: i posted this here because no one knows me in the chrysler forum and everyone here knows me for my civic.)

probably unsafe driving practices of some sort. cops have to put the blame on someone and if your the only one guess whos catchin the wrath. same shit happened to me when i got rear ended. boy did i get the shaft on that one. they ended up saying it was my fault and giving me a 78$ careless driving ticket for being rear ended. wtf? seems some asshole geezer i passed a while back stopped at the accident scene and told the cop i cut him off and was driving like a dick.......not true, but of course since im stereotyped as a 24 year old punk i had no chance.

anyways its probably good the chrysler is gone bro, more and likely you would have been stranded soon from the notorious wrist pin problem like so many other have. although that might have been a little bit better of an option then slamming into a tree at 40+mph.

That sucks man... The cop didn't give me a ticket when I hit a fence in my first 280zxt... I didn't know they could give tickets for shit they didn't even see...

What a bitch I would have flipped out if I had just wrecked my car and then had a cop give me a ticket...

Sorry to hear such a horror story, but I'm glad you came out ok. It could have been much worse, you know?

However, I still don't know why you couldn't just get a new clutch... how much does a new one cost? Let me know, I'm clueless on this.
Good luck!

thanks guys. the ticket was for "too fast for conditions" (rain)

a new clutch is $115 plus 5hrs labor. i currently have a stage 4 clutch and that is $500 plus labor. i loved my current clutch so i want to keep it stage 4 but its too costly so i'm waiting. did i mention i have no job anymore and can't find one because i moved to the woodlands. sucks. i'm waiting for my new motor anyway. then i'll get a new stage 4!

Any idea how much that ticket will cost? Maybe you can explain the situation to the judge and get him to reduce/throw out the ticket? Just say it was a new car, you weren't used to it... maybe say some suspension part broke and caused you to lose control? *shrugs*

-Grendel

BTW... Thats a nice looking Civic, looks real clean... I like it...

just sell the chrysler like it is and use the $ to buy a new clutch......or to buy another beater......just buy a piece of crap that runs good enough to get you back and forth to work.....buy an old school honda or toyota...then fix it up later.....or not

Sorry to hear of your misfortune... but I'm definitely glad it wasn't worse than it was. Happy to hear that you aren't too badly banged up... you should feel forunate for that... I'd choose my life over any of that other stuff.
