Tranny Noises
Ok i have an 89 hatch with a crx tranny not sure with one, it is a 5 speed, its making a weird grinding noise just as I hit a little above halfway though each gear, doesnt do it every time, and it started out just doing it at the end of 1st. a friend that works at a dealership as a tech says they get them all the time and cant figure out what it is and said most of the fourth gens had this noise after so many miles. he said its not detrimental to the car but it is annoying as fuck. any help?

Re: Tranny Noises
I'd say maybe check your tranny fluid. My tranny has a slight leak and whenever the fluid gets a bit low, i get the same grinding till i fill her back up.

Re: Tranny Noises
I tried that It had no fluid when I first got the car, so I filled it up right after I got it, and it has not leaked, a drop, and I have no idea what it could be

Re: Tranny Noises
Well if you say the tranny was empty when you got it, it couldve been too late for you to save it. The tranny might already be shot due to lack of lubrication and theres nothing you can do but get a replacement. But if it is only a little noise at higher gears, it might not be much of a problem, and i guess you can just ignore it..

Re: Tranny Noises
Could be a bad clutch or synchros. Check the clutch first.

Re: Tranny Noises
c that was another thing I wuz thinkin of because the clutch has alwayz felt funny I got a new clutch cable when I bought the car and adjusted it and it helped alot, but, Its still feels funny, and the clutch does slip sometimes, and makes a squeekin noise starting off, I dont think its the syncros, there are no scratches when I shift. I am gonna put a used (practically new, never even got 70 miles b4 he had a crank bearing go bad) stage 3 clutch in it. If that doesnt work then Ill put the d16 tranny that come with the clutch on it. but I kinda dont wanna do the swap right now

Re: Tranny Noises
Did you change the clutch bearings? Usually ppl change them when you change the clutch if your clutch didn't come with one. Another thing you might to look at is your flywheel. It could be glazed/worned out.
