brakes
85 300zx having major brake issues, one last problem and Ill be done. Im trying to put the rear calliper back on and where the caliper bolts on to the piece that holds the pads, the two things that the bolts go into are supposed to collapse in, they have rubber around them. The problem is the bottom one is stuck out and will not collapse so I can't fit the caliper on. Sorry for the lack of mechanical terminoligy but Im not exactly a mechanic. Any help would be greatly appriciated, thanks.

Re: brakes
there should be a thing that looks like an iron cross, which is the adjuster system for the brakes; take a needle nose pliers and put it on the iron cross, and start turning the fucker all the way to the right as far as it'll go (it's really fucking hard to turn the damn thing, I suggest that you get some grease to try and lubricate it). You should be able to fit it on then...

Re: brakes
Not seeing any thing like that, but to make my horible deiscription better, I found out what is stuck is called the caliper sliding pin. I don't think an adjuster has anything to do with that.

Re: brakes
hmm, well at least you found the problem... try greasing it, and waiting a lil' while... give it a few hours, and if it doesn't move, re-grease it (if you go and get some lithium grease it'd really do wonders, but just make sure you don't get it on the pads or the rotor, becuase that shit never rubs off or burns off of anything). But just grease and re-grease and if it doesn't work, than you're gonna' have to replace the sucker...

Re: brakes
wtf that's weird.... take a light and try and look into the hole where it slides into.... you shouldn't be having any problems sliding back in there unless something is stuck inside the hole... so the pin won't go back in, or the bolt won't go into the pin?

Re: brakes
umm i run into this problem all the time at work all you gotta do is push out the slide pin or pull it out with needle nose pliers and once u get it out clean out the inside of the hole it slides in with brake parts cleaner or wd-40 ... the clean the slide pin off good with either a grinder with a grinding pad if you have it or a metal brush to get all the crap off then lube it up with some brake caliper grease really good.. once you do that put the slide back in slowly and try sliding it back and forth it should move pretty freely with no force necessary ...
oh and make sure you dont rip the dust boot around the slide its necessary to keep contaminants such as dirt and moisture etc.. out.
