Question WTF is that?!

ok...93 vr4...theres 2 connected metal cylinders in front of my front passenger tire....about 2in in diameter and 7 in long each. had to take the front active dam off to see them.

Im curious what they are becasue i think i need to replace them, as they are extremely rusted and it looks like the connecting pipe will break soon.

i can post pics tomarrow if no one knows what im talkin about.

Off the top of my head I can't think of what they are. Pics would help.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

also known as the evaporation canister, it is really used for emissions purposes. Of course i took mine out a long time ago.

Assuming you are referring to that, the only other thing that is over on that side of the car is the ABS system.

Re: WTF is that?!

Hotshot, when you took yours out, did you get any gas smell?
Also where did you route the line from the gas tank, just out under the car?
Any issues with the gas tank being under presure?

You are talking about something for emissions, what he is talking about is the VAC resivior. The virtacal cylinder in the engine bay under the fuse/relay box is the evaporation canister.

The Vacume resivior only came on factory TT models, which is probably why you dont know about it. It works like the brake booster but for everything else that needs vacume(mainly the clutch). NA cars dont need this because they never go into positive presure.

you must be then referring to the canister that connects to the stock intake pipes then?
