97 transport wiper problem

My 97 trans sport front wipers are doing something really strange. They were working fine until one rainy day, and now they're not wanting to park where they normally park when I shut them off. Usually they retreat under the hood, but now when I turn them off, they open up and park vertically on the windsheild. They operate totally fine though, it almost seems like an electrical malfunction, like they were reprogrammed to park vertically instead of horizontally under the hood. It's been annoying me for weeks, does anybody have a suggestion as to what I can do to correct this problem?

Re: 97 transport wiper problem

Use the "search this forum" feature and do a search with key words "wipers + park" in this forum and also in the the Montana and in the Venture forums; there are several references to this problem.

Re: 97 transport wiper problem

My bet is either the wiper transmission mechanism is binding and not allowing the wiper to go in reverse, or has slipped on the drive post.
