Question for GameCube owners

Do you find you experience (frequently for me) corruption on memory cards? I'm wondering if it's just a system-specific thing or not. Now, I AM using a couple of 3rd party cards, but I've never had any problems with third party cards on my PS, PS2, or Dreamcast. However with my GameCube, I've already experienced data-corruption issues twice in the span of a month. I have a feeling it has to do with the fact that it happened to me on my first card (the one that comes with Animal Crossing) so I copied my files off that one onto another card -- so in essence I was copying files off a potentially corrupted card (if I reinserted it a couple times, it usually worked for me) onto a "clean" 3rd party one. Unfortunately, one of those files happens to be my WindWaker saved game (isn't that always the way) and I'll be damned if I lose all that progress, since I already found myself taking a loss of several hours play time having to recover with a slightly older save when the second corruption happened.

Perhaps 3rd party cards for the GameCube are particularly unreliable?

Any good lost gamesave stories?

I've had problem with third party mem cards with more than one system. I never buy third party anything anymore. Its not worth it.

Re: Question for GameCube owners

i've had problems with 3rd party cards for N64 with lost and corrupted files so it's possible that 3rd party cards for the gamecube are problematic.

Re: Question for GameCube owners

I learned my lesson with a 3rd party memory card for PS2 and Final Fantasy X. It sucks when you loose a whole lot of game play. (hours upon hours upon hours). I always jsut pay the extra money now and get the "offical memory card. I would say go buy the nice card. Try and load your game off of your current card. Insert the new card and save the game on the new card. Good Luck

I don't have any 3rd party cards. As stated, I always go for the official Nintendo/Sony/MS memory cards. I've never had problems with them and will keep on buying them over the cheaper versions.

Re: Question for GameCube owners

I'll say this

The cheaper cards are not good for serious saves cause you will either ruin the card, system, or saves. I speak from experience.
