2nd gen autocross

would my 1987 2.0SI do good in autocross? and if so what mods should i do to prepare for it?

Hell yeah, 2nd gens handle good! Some new rims/tires, sway bars, new spring/shocks will really awaken your car.

racing usually in parking lots around cones, tight and technical.

Oh!
Ive watched a couple of them, they hold them usually every couple of years in a local high schools parking lot. Pretty cool to watch.
Older Saab's suck in them though lol, just had to let u know.
So my 2nd gen would do good too then?

Well stock it wouldnt do very good, but with the mods listed it would be better. Autocross also ranges from track racing to cutting cones in parking lots.
