Distributor Wobble
Need some insight here. Original problem was, the truck stop running for no reason. Found the distributor gear was wore to the point that gears were missing. I have now replaced the distributor and found that when the engine is running it has a slight wobble to it. Any suggestions as to what might be causing the wobble? Needed to add that it is a 98 Cherokee with a 4.0 with about 109k miles.

Re: Distributor Wobble
When you replaced the distributor did you replace everything associated with it IE the gear, shaft, cap, button, rotor all that? When you replaced the distributor did you look down inside the engine and check the condition of the camshaft. If the dist. gears were that severly worn the gears on the camshaft might be pretty worn as well and when a new dist. with new gears is put in the worn camshaft might be the culprit. I am assuming of course that you made sure that the dist. was tightened down all the way.

Re: Distributor Wobble
Thanks for the reply. I replaced the complete distributor including rotor button, camshaft position sensor. I looked at the cam gear and it didn't seem to be worn, atleast not as bad as the distributor gear. I was wondering if it could be a problem with the oil pump causing the wobble.
