Electrical Problems

My vehicle is a Ford Fiesta 1.3 Encore, 3 door Hatchback, 1996 (new shape).

Recently i noticed my dashboard instrument panel not working. With further investigation i discovered my front side lights and rear lights don't work either. When i brake the rear lights (different bulb work).

I've checked all the fuses and looked for loose connections. I don't think it is an earthing problem because the rear lights share the same earth and some are working.

Now i think the problem may come down to one of two things by the way the lights operate. The left hand steering wheel stalk controls has three settings, OFF, side lights (inc dashboard), and headlights (aslo full beam). Its the middle setting that perhaps is not doing its job. Behind the central fusebox (nr steering column) is a unit that clicks when i go through the three settings above. The unit is blue about 1.5 inches by 1 inch has 4 connections and has 6BB - 1 written on it.

So i wonder if its the switch in the stalk or the blue unit that maybe at fault. Is there any way of checking which one it may be?

All help very gratefully received

Thanks Brandon

Re: Electrical Problems

make sure the brake lights have the right bulbs in. it should be one with 2 filaments in. one for side lights and one for brakes
