clutch problems

i just bought a 94 stealth and am having trouble with the clutch. To shift gears in my car i literally have to absolutely floor the clutch to disengage it enough to catch a gear and even then its a little rough to catch the gear. I need to somehow adjust the clutch so it disengages higher up on the pedal. I've already flushed the hyd clutch with new fluid and bled it, but it doesn't seem to be helping. any help would be appriciated

Re: clutch problems

Yes, the clutch is adjustable but make sure you have all the air out of the system first. I say that because I bled my system like 3 times but still had air in there and my clutch was somewhat spongy and caught earlier than what it used to. I was to the point of adjusting the clutch pedal as well but gravity bled it a final time and got rid of all the air. After that, everything felt fine and went back to normal. Good luck!

Re: clutch problems

its in the pedal. I know that you do it from inside the car, unfortunately ive never screwed around with mine so im not sure of how exactly you do it.

There's a locknut that you have to "break" and then spin the rod.

The third blurry picture points to the nut.

Re: clutch problems

how many miles do your 94 stealth have on it?

if pedal adjustment doesn't help, then your slave cylinder might be on its way out.

Re: clutch problems

ok... wow...thanx, i got in there and udjusted that shaft like you showed in the picture and now i can easily shift through the gears. Although 3rd gear needs full throw of the clutch pedal while the others only need about 1/2 to 3/4 a push on the clutch. Does that sound like a wearing synchro?

synchro? where did you get that?

a wearing synchro will give a grinding noise/feel when shifting gears. if you're engaging all gears with 1/2 push of cluth, but 3rd requires a full push, it sounds like either your slave or master cylinder is going out.
