Starting problem 2000 GC

Having problems starting after the vehicle sits for extended time (1 hour or better). It turns over but will not start until the second try. I was told there was an issue with a fuel pump gasket. I have a new gasket. Does this sound like the culprit? Where can i get instructions online? I only want to drop the tank once!!

Re: Starting problem 2000 GC

Before you tear into the fuel tank, it's a good idea to diagnose it first.
All you need is a fuel pressure gauge:

1. Attach your gauge at the port in the injector rail.

2. Start and run the engine.

3. Check the pressure. Normal fuel system pressure is 50 psi.

4. Stop the engine. Check that the fuel system pressure does not fall below 25 psi in five minutes.
