98 Chevy Alarm system problem
The battery on my 98 chevy 1500 went dead after leaving the dome light on. When I try to jump start it the alarm system goes off and I don't have the remote. I then decided to take the battery out and have it charged at a local shop. When I put it back in and tried to start it the alarm went off again and won't let the truck start. How can I get my truck started again? Can I unhook the alarm? If so how?

Re: 98 Chevy Alarm system problem
Does your truck have an aftermarket alarm? I do remote starters for a living and I've never heard of that problem. Depending on how the unit was wired in, you usually can find it up under the kick panel. Then just unplug it.

Re: 98 Chevy Alarm system problem
I think it is the stock alarm, I bought the truck used about a year ago. I thought taking the batery out and charging it would stop the alarm from going off, but I was wrong. I'm gonna try to unplug it, but I don't really know what I'm unplugging.
