98 neon CS help please!

Hello everyone, i got my new 1998 chrysler neon CS yesterday (i live in england) and it is great. It is a 2 litre with dual exhaust and full leather (cs only features i think?!?!?). However it only came with one key fob and i dont want to be left with an unusable car if i lose it! does anyone know how to code a new fob if i get one off ebay or somewhere?

also it came with a 6 cd changer in the boot which the owner said was broken so gave me a clarion one instead with a head unit too. i would like to keep the chrysler head unit and attach the clarion changer, does anyone know if there is an adapter? again there is one on ebay for clarion to chrysler but it says 99 on although i dont think this should be a probelm. Alternatively i could fit a fascia and put the clarion head unit in, any thoughts?

thanks for your help

Hello from America...If you get a key off eBay, they should be able to copy your current key to match it.

I don't know of any adapter, but it would have to be a wire that is compatible with the stock unit and the changer. That one on eBay should work, but I can't guarantee that it will. Email the seller and ask them.

Hi, thanks for your reply. In a twist of fate i went out to open the car today and...you guessed it ! it wont de-immobilise. How quickly do the batteries usually run out on them as it has been ok in the last week, sometimes taking 2 clicks but 70% of the time in one click to open?

thanks for your help!

I'm not quite sure I understand what you are saying. Is the car battery dead?

Hi i tried that yesterday... no luck! i think it may be the cover for the battery is not touchingthe parts it needs to so not completing the circuit? anyway at the moment i cannot start the car and trying to get a remote with programming instructions from ebay is proving hard!!!

thanks for all your help and if anyone wants the 2 ways of programming remotes i have recived from sellers already i will be more than happy to send them. Immobilsers are a pain, i had this exact same problem a month ago with my renault megane and i ended up having to sell it as a non runner! i bought the neon and sods law it happened again!

i think thats newtons law...no? why can you start the car? also there is a fuse that the alarm goes to. i think if you disconect it it should start fine. on the remote if the metal parts are not touching then bend them tell they do touch.

ha ha something like that! ok heres what i did, i took out fuse number 3 (electric mirrors, door locks etc) and touched it in a few times until the immobiliser light went solid (i got this info from a guy on ebay its how to recode apparently!) anyway i pressed both buttons on the fob to recode and nothing happend. But i did try the engine while the light was still solid and it started! if anyone is stuck somewhere and needs to start this is how to do it! however i am now looking to buy a second hand fob off ebay so i can code it to my immobiliser i dont want to keep doing this as i think it could damage the immobilser in the long run?!?!

anyway thanks for your help ill keep you posted if i get a new fob coded

thanks

andy
