My Car (pictures)

well, I was bored and so I'm going to post up a picture of my car...I dont have any other good shots so here it goes! Bone stock 89 CIVIC LX with 261,500 miles. Original paint to boot, perfect body except for a single dent that you can see under the door trim. metal trim around the doors are peeling. Seriously considering an engine swap when the timing belt goes on the D15B2...but then the whole job would cost more than the car so yeah. yep pretty boring i know.

Re: My Car (pictures)

hm i'm such a newbie when it comes to lingo, but I think that means to lower the car right? yep the suspension is all worn out...If my dad goes through with the engine swap i might replace the struts with some cheap tokico HPs and some lowering springs...maybe. my dad despises modifications (such as lowering, etc.). One question, would the camber be off due to lowering? is it easy to adjust?

your camber will be off when you lower your car. you'll get negative camber. to adjust it, you will have to purchase camber adjustment kits such as ingalls camber kits.

Re: My Car (pictures)

and you'll want a shop to adjust the camber because you need to use a machine to find out how far off and what adjustments need to be done.

Re: My Car (pictures)

if my dad deems my car worthy, I'll try to swap in a cheap D16y8 or a D16a6. THen I'll invest in suspension. More pictures will come soon, its just that my car is dirty cause of recent rain..

Re: My Car (pictures)

when they say camber they are talking about your wheels being like this / or \ instead of being straight up and down like they should be, like this |

Re: My Car (pictures)

haha oh yeah I i'm not that newbie not to know what camber is (i've been reading and searching these forums for a while..just dont post stuff up unless I need help)..i'm just wondering if its easy to adjust. Camber would be like / ---- \ cause of the lowered suspension..a kit would make it I --- I....i have a question though...would lowering the car hamper the driving dynamics? i mean sure it'll look good...but will it drive like crap? cause it wasnt designed for a 1" drop (not planning on going any further.). my uncle has a stock 300zx TT and that thing is low...he let me drive it during the summer and it was annoying to drive it at an angle when approaching a driveway or a speed bump.

Re: My Car (pictures)

just an inch i wont touch my suspension unless its 2 but thats just me. and yes negetive camber sucks. my buddy wore out a brand new tire in three days belt and all showing. so make sure you get that done right away. to many people around here dont. good luck with the swap tho should be simple.

Re: My Car (pictures)

Guess what guys? It rained today and you know what that means. Slippery roads. I rear ended someone!!!! ahh second accident...but this was very minor. Rear ended the guy at ~5mph with wheels locked after he stopped suddenly when a truck in front of him did the same. I can take pics again, but the car looks normal.

the paint on my license plate is probably the only thing that was damaged. the license plate saved my car... (my bumper left untouched...maybe a streak of red so small from his bumper--where my license plate hit it--you wouldnt notice it if I told you.) THank goodness for CA's requirements for a front license plate! it's a good idea!

his car looks fine (Camry). his rear bumper suffered just a scratch on the lower part...barely noticable. and then there's some red from my plate. The guy was totally cool with it and that gave me tons of relief. hopefully he wont go through insurance!
