92 Eldorado, convert to Bose system

Is it possible to convert a non-Bose Eldorado to a Bose system? The car came with a factory Cassette wich I am about to put in a factory CD/Bose radio in. Is it possible/easy to just install the rest of the factory components and have a factory system? Thanks

Re: 92 Eldorado, convert to Bose system

I guess anything is possible given sufficient desire. I would not consider it easy, though. I have the Bose in my '93 and considered going to non-Bose when the head unit broke. I'm not an audiophile so getting the unit repaired made the most sense for me. Truth be told, I don't hear much of a difference between the Bose in my car and the stock unit in my wife's Camry. With the Bose, the head unit is in the dash, each speaker has it's own amp, and the major electronic portion of the unit is in the trunk. You'll need all the pieces. A lot of posts I read on the issue were by some serious audiophiles who felt they could get a much better sound with a quality aftermarket dash unit and good speakers than with the Bose. Opinions vary, I suppose. You may have other reasons to do a swap which are your own. If you do follow through, you might want to look on Ebay or for a "donor car" in a junk yard as you'll need all the various wiring and other small bits and pieces.
Good luck with your project.
