Idle problems
1994 mustang, standard transmission, 3.8l v6. Usually idles around 5000 rpm. Seems kinda low and trying to teach my son how to drive a stick he is having trouble starting out that low. I set up the idle screw by the accelerator cable, extremly hard to adjust. Goes right up to 11000 and wont go any lower. Also seems like over a couple of days the idle is back down around the 5000 rpm again but the screw has not turned back (I marked it to watch). Is there another way to adjust the idle or a second part to what I am doing. Thanks.

K this is not enswer to your question since i have idle problems of my own on my car but man you must be driving an F1 car to have idle at 5000-11000 RPM but im sure u ment 500-1100RPM

Check or clean your Idle Air Control. its close or on top of your Throttle plate. Take it off and clean it out with Carb cleaner. There should also be an allen headed nut close to it that you can adjust the idle.

when you adjust the idle, unplug he IAC first, adjust the idle with the screw he's talking about, then plug it back in.

Yea, The Screw On The Cable Is Just For Tention On Cable. Turn It Back To Wher You Found It. But I Think The Idle Should Be About 6-700 Rpms. Just Have Your Kid Rave Up A Little Higher Than Normal. After Awhile He'll Get The Feel And Be Doing Just Fine. However The Computer Is Probaly Tring To Compensate For The Flap On The Other Side Of That Cam The Cables On. The Cable Really Just Lets More Air In. The Fuel Is Controled By The Senser The Othe Guy Was Talking About. Good Luck
