MAF sensor - can I clean with LEAVING

it in the truck? I can not get it to come out and I don't want to mangle everything.

This throttle body/air intake tube has never been apart in 9yrs, and it's obviously wanting to stay that way. I have been working on it for over 2hrs - it won't budge.

Yes I've taken out the clamps/screws, still won't budge. I will be using short mini-bursts of electrical parts cleaner.

Re: MAF sensor - can I clean with LEAVING

I guess it's possible, provided you can get a clean shot at the leading edge/end of the sensor. I would want to disconnect the intake tube from the throttle body so you dont blow cleaner/junk up to the throttle plate.

Re: MAF sensor - can I clean with LEAVING

Well, I didn't end up cleaning it after all; I had a MUCH funner job to attend to . After I had posted this question I wanted to wait for a response, so I tackled another area that had been giving me some grief for the last week.

One of the heater hoses to the heater core decided to pop a tiny hole, well for a short time - few days actually, it was a VERY very minor leak of only a few drops, kept checking on it and more and more it begin to look like a weak clamp. So I replaced the clamp on the top pipe, drove to town and stopped at Napa to get some wax to shine her up before summer - come back out and truck's dropping a load of antifreeze, painting the parking lot.

Turns out it wasn't the clamp at all, hose had a split that just decided to SPLIT and let loose. Of course, it's an Isuzu and NO one around, Napa, Autozone or Checker has this particular hose.

Called the dealership 40 miles away, they have the hose, but I have no way to get there, it's 11:30AM and they close at 1 PM. Couldn't even drive the truck the 10 miles to get home to get the other truck, couldn't get a hold of anyone.

Long story short, finally got my sister on the line, got the hoses - both heater hoses and fixed them in the parking lot of Napa. Let me tell you the tightening of the clamps on the bottom end of these two hoses are a B$$$$ to get too, as you are litterally plastered against the firewall trying to do this. These were the hoses I didn't WANT to ever mess with, as these are the pipes that lead to the o-rings down the center of the V - hopefully this won't cause that issue to arise!!

But they were 9yrs old, and original OEM hoses, so I can't really complain too badly. I don't wish that job on anyone - I would've never thought they were that difficult to start with.

At this point, the MAF and Check engine light can just go fly a kite! It's not causing any driveability issues, and it doesn't have a smog test this year, so I'm not gonna fret over it. I've had enough frustration between these two daily drivers in keeping their cooling systems primed up lately!! But, the overall cost spent is still cheaper then car payments.

On a side note, however, I was quoted $23k for a 2006 Nissan Xterra Off-road 4x4 with a $5K dollar trade-in quote on the Rodeo site-unseen. I was just playing around with a salesman on numbers while we were getting the new heater hoses.
