well for starters RX7's (rotaries in general) don't respond well to NOS, as most are already turbocharged. Second, he probably removed his stock twin turbo setup and threw a big single on there or a super like lots of people have done to gain more power. Or if you were really lucky he had a 3-rotor 20b engine which is capable of 600hp easily.

precisely why im going rotory........
1.) civic drivers are starting to REALLY piss me off with their lame ass attitudes towards other cars
2.) people do such *****STUPID***** shit with them, it makes mine look bad.
3.) i want a car with power - i dont give a fuck how much "nawz" you have, or what brand "headerz" a rex will fuck you up. period.
my dad's friends newest rx7 (he builds them, and sells them, to build another) is @ about 300hp right now, with a 2 rotor NA Carborated (he removed the FI, said its getting a turbo in a bit, and carboration would be better for that. he's done some internal work too but im not sure exactly what it is..im assuming bored it out, but i dont know if thats possible with a rotory.. with everything he's done engine wise, he hasnt spent more than a grand, and he got the car for iirc, 1500. 1985 RX7, *great* condition, fast as fuck, and not a civic, oh, and cheap.
ill try to get some pictures of it actually.. he rewmoved the gas tank in favor of a smaller one, with a better fuel pump, ran all the fuel lines, new ignition, etc., removed the stereo (putting guage pod in the audio console)

btw - its a 13b engine (1.3 liter)

the best part about your whole story? what the kid that dusted you is saying. "haha, some stupid fucker in a civic with his "NAWZ B077L3" tried to run me today. by second gear he was standing still"

adios.

And then both of you guys w/ you sewing maching powered cars get passed by a moped w/ a 5hp Engine and he goes on to put 5 car lengths on you. Racing an EX vs a DX is like a 10 speed bike vs a golden retriever.

yeah he probably go bigger seals, ported it and updated the computer and pully system. for about 2 grand you can get an updated brand new remanufactured 13b. $5000 you can get a used 20b, and if you wanna go big, $15,000 will get you a supercharged brand new 20b with a microcomputer and the works probably 500+hp and easily capable of more.

Dreem you left out the most important part of the Rx-7. It's RWD! not a craptacular FWD econobox. Plus it's the greatest handling car to ever come out of japan.

ah, i knew there was something else i forgot! hehe!
Danny (dad's friend) also re-enforced the underside drive components (drive arms, etc.) to handle the new power...he said by the time he's "done" the power transfer would turn his axles into mashed potatos.. lol

Do RX7's get good gas mileage? I hear the older ones burn as much oil as they do gas.

Well, it depends. The older ones weren't quite as bad but the TT's used about as much gas a a 3.0L V6, a fairly large ammount considering it's only a 1.3L engine.

All in all though the rotary is by far the best engine design from a performance point of view.

Oh yeah, and just to clearify. It's called a Wankel engine, not a "wacko".

gas milage isnt that great.... i stopped over to see it today, he said he put 5 bucks in it the other day, started it about 5 times just to test it, and its on empty ;/

gas milage is a bit of an issue... but not too bad i think being its gonna be stock for awhile... his isnt stock.

dreemkill, this is just me being honest but shut the f__k up man, who carez who is driving what kind of carz, dude if i get behind the wheel of my brother in lawz hatch, i will run any rex out there, turbo, twin turbo, none of them are pullin 11.9, and if they are the car is depreciated cause of the value, dude i like rx-7's but dont come say bla bla bla im goin rotory, just cause u live in deepwoodz alabama and al those country kidz put possomz on there hb's to look like wingz doesnt mean they do it hear, with that reply u looked like such an azz, how about the fact that u forgot to mention how unreliable they are, or how many are left in the usa, those thingz are death trapz, my cousin is a paramedic, he told me he has personally pulled apart 4 rx-7's, no survivors, group of 4 in a civic wrapped car around tree at 60mph all of em lived. I was in an rx-7 crash they cant handle worth of shit and those older onez are ugly as fuk. New onez are nice but that car is a small viper, ford only made it to come out in 93 so it could compete with tha viper, a lower costing smaller replica, u wanna talk about rotory 13b engines, ok letz talk about the pain in the azz maintnance they require. Nice car to drive every now and then, but fuk wit it and it will fuk wit you.... Ty

Angry HMMMMM

Like i said b4... NOS is not for all cars?? CARS with NOS can and will be beaten.. u just need the right/smart set-up in u're car, and u can run with any NOS powered car.. Personally i would never put NOS in my car.. i like my TURBO set-up.. I can run with some of the best.
