Unhappy 1999 camaro won't start---lease help me

I have a 1999 chey camaro...6cylinder...i can't start my car, please help

Let's start from the beginning: I locked myself out of my car...I know stupid me...but anyway, a friend told me to try disconnecting the negative cable on the battery, wait 5 minutes and reconnect...didn't help, escalated my problem, alarm blaring so i disconnected the negative again and called a locksmith...got it unlocked, reconnected the bbattery, seemed to run fine, except it kept automatically arming after turning it off and closing the door...2 days later, i went to crank the car and the alarm starts going off, car won't crank...i have tried disarming undreds of times, it seems like, but every time i put the key in the ignition and try to crank it "security" lights up on the display the little red light in the dash comes on and the alarm goes off, needless to say the car won't crank...please help me, i'm not an expert and don't know what to do

I would venture that when you disconnected the battery terminal something got weird with the Vehicle Anti-Theft System. Either it's something that is supposed to happen to keep people from stealing the car or something went hay wire. I would think that if you brought it to a dealer they would be able to figure it out, for a price of course.

Red face Re: 1999 camaro won't start---lease help me

yeah, i called the dealership...they wanted $500.00+/- to fix the problem...found a bypass procedure---that requires making an installing a homemade bypass cable...it'll only cost a few bucks a little bit of time...might try that and see if it works....wish me luck

That's just to bypass the resistance pellet in the key. Your problem sounds like it's in the control module.
