Front rotors stuck on, 2001 LX..
Just a FYI. Had a helluva time getting the warped, shot, rusty front factory rotors off my 2001 LX, 60K miles.
The calipers and caliper holders came off nice and easy, then the banging, pounding and prying commenced in an attempt to release the rotors from the hubs. After about 15min of pounding and prying on the drvs side, off she came. Taking a breather before I started the other side, I got a tip from an older and more handy brother (thankfully he called). He suggested giving the rotor hub a few quick bursts with an air chisel to break up the rust around the hub. Anythings worth a shot I said! Sure enough! a couple bursts between the studs, CLUNK.. off she came! My cheapy harbor freight tools twin hotdog compressor and $8 air chisel worked wonders.Joel

Thanks for the tip. By the way, can you post what rotors and pads you went with.

Re: Front rotors stuck on, 2001 LX..
When I first started accumulating air tools, I bought a cheapie (<$10; probably just like yours) air hammer, just because. To my surprise, I've probably put more miles on that hammer than any other air tool I've got. The cheapies don't last long; when this one gets really annoying, I'll break down and get a good one...

Re: Front rotors stuck on, 2001 LX..
Lewis- I went with NAPA ceramix pads and the only rotors they stock, which are just stamped "Made in China" on a plain white box.
The pads were $55, rotors were $39 x 2. With tax, ~$144 and I was out the door. The pads came with real nice peel & stick on anti rattle shims. I cleaned and reused all the other brake hardware & buttered everyting I could with permatex 'synthetic' silicone brake grease. Everything cleaned up very nice for 5yrs/60Kmi in the rust belt. The only thing I need to replace is one of the rubber caps for the caliper bleeder on the pass side. I was lucky the bleeders opened no problem, so I purged the dirty fluid out of the pistons. She stops like a dream now! Only bad thing I noticed while I was under there are my sway bar end links and sway bar bushings are SHOT. Man I'm glad I have 10mo/15Kmi of warranty left.Joel
