Unhappy HORRIBLY burned cluch! Damnit

I know I'm making a lot of dumb newbie-like questions lately but I'm really worried about this. Here's the story, I was trying to do a launch with my girlfriend in the car (trying to impress her lol). I've done a couple ~4.5 rpm launches and I've got both of them pretty good so I was thinking I could do another. Well I reved it tooo high to about 6k+ and dropped it. I think I must have not let the cluch out completely while flooring it all the way to almost redline which was at least a second or more. It must have been burning the whole way cause I don't think it caught the whole time. We were only about a block away from my house and when I pulled in the garage it smelled HORRIBLE. Like you would get neuseous if you stood in the garage for too long. And the smell lasted for at least 2 hours with a fan blowing out the garage door on full blast, and even then you could still smell it pretty bad.

I have absolutely babied my car and clutch up until that so I'm just wondering do you think my cluch at the least has any material left or could it have warped/messed up anything? I'm going to try the old let the clutch out without giving it gas from a stop to see if it grabs at all. Hopefully it does. I do not have the money for a new clutch!

PS. I know I'm a complete dumbass for doing this and I need to learn how to drive better, so no need to tell me.

Re: HORRIBLY burned cluch! Damnit

My first question is, was she impressed?

It's prolly fine. Repititous stupidity is what usually kills parts; I bet it's okay. I did worse to mine when I was learning, then did it on purpose. That was on a 15 year old rx-7, now it's 7 years later and it's still on the road. DSMs are tough, why would it break down on you?

I'd say try it, it'll probably be fine.

But seriously, drive around at 30mph and put the car in 4th gear and give it 75% throttle...if it slowly picks up speed without revving high than your clutch is fine. If it does not pickup speed and just rev high than your screwed.

let it cool off for a day or so. Does the clutch feel really really soft? If so, it will be fine with time probably. You most likely did reduce the life of the clutch significantly though.

Re: HORRIBLY burned cluch! Damnit

Yeah it does. Mine gets turned on by it. Last night we were coming home, and a newer lancer wanted some. He went in a turn only lane and went straight then to get in front of me. I'm watching, and my girl was like, "Go smoke him." I love it when she says that. We were rolling, and he was just staying back. I slowed down to let him catch up, but he fell back each time I did it. Finally, I shift to 4th, cause I got tired of wasting gas. He goes and takes off. By the time I downshift and everything else, he's in front, cuts me off, and brake checks me. I was pulling on his ass hard by the time he got in front of me, so I flew around him then. She was hot. lol.

So yeah... I does impress the ladies. Maybe it's just the car then.

my girl loves it when I give it some gas. It drives her insane. Not to mention my car does vibrate a whole lot at idle hahaha.

Re: HORRIBLY burned cluch! Damnit

I dont feel like driving 10 hours to get to the nearest one, I'm just going to bank on the chance that I might happen to be vacationing (with the talon) in a city that is hosting HIN(like that will ever happen )
