Question Speaker Problem? MY rear speakers and front left door speaker do not work?

My speakers recently started cutting in and out and now the rear and front left door speakers do not work. So I thought maybe it was the stock cd player going out, but I swapped with an after market cd player and the problem still exists. Would it be easier to just go ahead and run new speaker wires and be done with it or is there a simple fix. Also Can anyone tell me the sizes of the dash, door, and rear speakers in my 2001 chevy blazer ls, 2 door, 2wd?. thanks

Go to circuitcity.com and says 6.5 doors and 6x9 rears. My 4 door had same problem and was just the junky stock speakers. Front doors you need factory to after market adapters or will be cutting wires. Had to redrill the mounting holes too but real easy.

Also, you will not need to run new speaker wires. The factory wires are more than capable, and are also less likely to cause a problem than wires you run yourself. Only very rarely (almost never) is factory wiring an issue when it comes to speaker problems.

Unless you have a Bose system you do not have dash speakers. The dash location is really there for pickups or the Bose system. The door speakers, as mentioned, are 6.5's (you will need to get either an "oversized" speaker or an adapter plate) and the rears in a 2-door are 6X9's.

Re: Speaker Problem? MY rear speakers and front left door speaker do not work?

I share the same problem, I have owned this truck a long time and for the past three years I have had no rear speakers. didn't bother me much but know I'm thinking of tearing into it. I played around with audio more when I was younger and actually had sound systems that lost there rear channels atleast thats how the radio shops referred to it. Ideally I'd like to call my local junk yard and hope I can find a 97 ls with a stock unit. I don't have cd but I would like to find one that would fit in my rig. I'm not sure where to start. Stereo, speakers or wiring harness it could be anything anyone have a problem with losing rear speakers?

thanks

9 times out of 10, it's the speakers themselves. The other 1 time it will be the radio. It's almost never the wiring - unless the wiring has been manipulated in some way, it should not be a problem.

Stock units tend to run around $100+! For that money you're beter off with an aftermarket unit and mounting kit. They're very easy to install. The last one I did was on my kids Grand Am andit took me 10 mins!

Re: Speaker Problem? MY rear speakers and front left door speaker do not work?

I replaced the back speakers and then found out it was some setting in the Pioneer aftermarket unit in my Jimmy, that turned off the rears and really quieted down the right front.?.? I sniped a stock premium radio with tape on ebay for $6.50 plus $6 to get it here. I listen to Sirius almost all the time anyway so I don't need the dash CD. I'm gonna install it tomorrow. It's the same radio I had in the 1500 PU and I know I like it. I'll stick the Pioneer in the boat. My point is if you shop carefully and wait til the end of the auction you can pick up these stock units at a decent price. Maybe it isn't the latest and greatest but it suits me, and I know it will work with the stock wiring.
