SE-R SpecV

I don't have any problems with my 2004 SpecV. I see all these people writing about mod this mod that no wonder they are having trouble with the car.

Re: SE-R SpecV

Most people have no trouble with the 04's. It's the 02's that are troublesome.

Also about the butterfly screws in the intake, they always forget to mention that little problem only happens with the engine is revved so high it vibrates everything.

Re: SE-R SpecV

that and the fact that there was no thread sealant placed on a screw that has direct access to the combustion chamber.......but im sure that had nothing to do with it

Re: SE-R SpecV

Trust me, it's not just the 02's. My 03 sentra is the biggest project lemon I have ever experienced. The tranny clunked out at 50k miles and had to be replaced, thank God for warranty. At 55k miles the fuel pump went out. The car had a defective flywheel from the factory in it. My pre-cat is on the outs. I have a rubbing grinding noise then I turn right and I have taken it to three different shops, including nissan, and no one can figure it out. I also have a lot of rattling and a new clicking sound whenever I stop. While everyone else is happy go lucky modding their cars, I can't save up enough money to get mine fixed before something goes wrong. I love the spec v when it is running well and I love almost everything about the car. However, the one I got is a piece of shit, no doubt. I got the car at 52k miles for 14 grand, hoping it would be a good enough car to play around with and get me through college. Yeah my spec v attracts a lot of attention with the tinted windows, drilled and slotted rotors, upgraded stereo system, brake kalipers painted a dark red, and a dark red spec v logo on the sunstrip, but I get tired of having to explain all of the noises to new riders. It's embarrassing. I honestly barely ever run my car hard. I give it too much respect for the respect it gives me back. I have lost all faith in Nissan and although I will try to enjoy the brand with this car, I will most likely never buy another Nissan again. This car has completely ruined the experience for me.

mod this and mod that? most mods don't really hurt the car...certain ones can hurt the car though. such as motor mounts and balancing shaft removal.

it can happen even if you don't...it's just more likely to happen if you do. believe me, it's a design flaw not purely an operator issue..anyone can experience this issue even if they baby the qr25de.

and a header is a good idea with any car that has a precat...

Re: SE-R SpecV

my buddy has an 02 Spec-V, tranny broke within a month with his driving, than the MAS broke, costed him some $300 to get a brand new one. my brother and i have installed all of his parts, EBAY headers, intake and exhaust system. Nice, but he doesnt have a test pipe on right so it sounds funny and i feel light headed on a stop. Nice car, but i expected this kinda power from a Spec-V.
