Tranny Rebuild?
Well, since in a few days Ill have my engine and transmission out, should I go ahead and rebuild that too? Or is it too much of a headache and let someone else deal with it? Also, is there a detailed explaination in the Haynes manual? Thanks

Re: Tranny Rebuild?
I think if and when I want to build my tranny I'm going to do that since I'm already "certified" in tranny rebuilding

Re: Tranny Rebuild?
Thats what I am going to do also(when I can afford to do it), while I am in there I going to throw in an LSD too.
I am a smart guy, my best friend a damn good mechanic, and with a "blow up sheet/schematic" it would be pretty hard to fuck-up.

Re: Tranny Rebuild?
not hard to mess up at all but what always happened to me is I'd put everything back together and button it up and relize that I forgot one little check ball that sits deep inside the tranny so I'd have to tear it all apart again. I've rebuild like 15 in the last year, random muncies and fwd trannies and only one broke down and that was because he was hot rodding a 91 ford escort around and blew the dif pin out the case and he tried to blame it on me

Re: Tranny Rebuild?
if you wait that long you risk ruining the whole case/bellhousing though

Re: Tranny Rebuild?
That is true, but stock trannies can get pretty deep into the 10's right? If hes not planning on 10's that money can be put somewhere else.

Re: Tranny Rebuild?
Well I wanna shoot for around 350-400hp and I really dont have a problem taking things apart and putting them back together, ive never rebuilt and engine nor a tranny and it all is very easy to me. I help a friend once take apart an engine and it wasnt difficult at all, I know it sounds like a "easier said then done" situation but thats not the case at all. Im just figuring with about 100k on a manual tranny, Im already getting a new clutch, why not rebuild the transmission while im at it.
