Power Window Fix
My passenger power window crapped out on me about a year ago and now my rear driver side window is failing now in the same way. This weekend I finally have time to rip the door panels off, first i have to find someone with a voltmeter though.
My broken windows go up and down for a short time, after that they stop. In a little while its like they get recharged and can go up or down just a little bit again. Does this sound like a connection or switch problem? or is the motor trashed? Besides testing the connections at the motor is there anywhere else I can look to check this problem out? Im really hoping its not the motor because those are a pain to replace and install

Re: Power Window Fix
Lube the window channels / seals on the sides of the windows. Use graphite type lube or experiment with whatever you have. Wash the windows later. You have so much friction that the motor is tripping out as if it is fully open or closed.

Re: Power Window Fix
Yesterday I tried some wd40 and some all purpose oil lube it seemed to fix my back passenger + driver side window but i cant even get my front passenger window open at all, it takes way too long. I will be patient though and try that
Ill just lube the living hell out of that front passenger window

Re: Power Window Fix
If this problem is evident on more than one window, check the circuit breaker. It may be weak and "popping" too soon. As it cools down, it will reset itself and the windows will work again. This is a very inexpensive repair and your owners manual will tell you exactly where the breaker is located. Bring the old breaker with you to an auto parts store to match up with a new one.

Re: Power Window Fix
I just tried some graphite lube on it the only thing that did was cause my windows to start squeaking again

Re: Power Window Fix
If the windows are binding, remove the door trim panels and clean the steel roller tracks and nylon rollers on the window regulator. Then clean the vertical rubber guides. Remove all of the old lube, rust proofing, accumulated dirt and crud. (Carburetor cleaner works well for this.) Then spray lithium grease on the tracks and rollers on the regulator. Use silicone spray on the rubber tracks. The silicone will protect the rubber guides and help keep them soft. Eventually the silicone will wash off from rain etc, when it does, re-spray them. You can spray just the guides without removing the trim panels. No squeaks, no binding! The vertical tracks are adjustable to help align the glass if necessary.
