1998 Blazer there is "NO SPARK"
Hi there, one day I could feel some light chugging, ignored it and kept going. Next day it chugged some more and killed at a stop sign, it started back up and I kept going. The next day I was having a hell of a time keeping it running. Every stop it would kill, but would start right back up, but it wouldnt idle at all. Finally it left me stranded at the edge of the road. So got it in my shop. I suspected a bad fuel pump, acted just like a bad one. But I replaced fuel pump and nothing. So I checked for spark. No spark. SHIT SHIT..... So I started throwing parts at it. SO far I have put in a new control module, and coil. Not sure what else there is to replace. But I did notice that after cranking there is very little fuel pressure. Like it primes the lines and thats it. So I am thinking a possible bad crank sensor. I beleive that tells the pcm to open the injectors and fires the control module. Let me know what you think about this. ASAP

Crank sensor tested good, and rotor and button appear to be fine. I also put in a new pickup coil, with no luck

Re: 1998 Blazer there is "NO SPARK"
I have never been on this site so please be patient with me. I wanted to find a posting with recent posts in hopes to get an answer about my car trouble. I have a 94 Pontiac Sunbird LE and it is having problems. When I let off the gas after accelerating, my speed stays pretty constant and doesn't slow down much at all. I can coast for a very long distance and the speedometer drops very very slowly. Unfortunately I don't have an RPM gauge to see what I am idiling at. I noticed that when I am crawling in drive without accelerating at all my car is actually speeding up and I have to hit the brake to slow it down. When I am trying to park I hit the brake from coasting into the spot and the brakes jerk.....I assume this is because they are fighting the acceleration. I was wondering if anyone knew what might be causing this before I take it into the shop. Unfortunately I am rather poor due to college expenses and cannot afford much and am hoping this isn't a big problem. Hope to hear from someone soon. Thanks.

Re: 1998 Blazer there is "NO SPARK"
Dude this is my thread, make your own.
High rpms could be a number of problems. I once had a car and the rpms idled high because of the fuel pump. Then engine was idleing high to keep the fuel pressure up. I also recently had a friend car idle high, that ended up being a faulty crank sensor. The easiest thing to do it to get it scoped. You can throw parts at for ever, that gets spendy, trust me I know. |

Re: 1998 Blazer there is "NO SPARK"
No, the ignition switch in the steering colum, not the key tumbler, the black electronic module.
You might still have the left over parts from the 1997s when they changed years.

No, I am talking about the ignition switch in the steering column.

Re: 1998 Blazer there is "NO SPARK"
But, if it was that wouldnt other things not work. Everything else is coming on. But the way it went out doesnt make any since to me. Almost seems like a sensor or valve is failing, wrather than something electronic. But I have replaced so much and still nothing. One thing I have noticed is I dont have alot of fuel pressure after cranking. But new pump was put in and filter flowed fine.

Re: 1998 Blazer there is "NO SPARK"
i was having same problems i changed the cap and rotor button and it fixed it, but! i am not sure i might have bumped the cam shaft sensor while doing this.. i was thinking the cam shaft sensor might have a short in it or the harness going to it might have had a short in it and temp fixed it.
the cam shaft sensor is under the rotor button. it is a black pickup with a small harness going to it.. i swear i dont think it was my cap and rotor button i still think the cam sensor is bad and i messed with it just enough to get it running again. anyway try the cam sensor or the coil wire. |
