Help::Professional Paint Mixing Info

If i was to get my car painted a special "mix"
how much paint does it take to paint a whole car ...(camero eclipse 3000gt those sizes) like a gallon or how many? than if i buy like 2 gallons of 2 different colors..? and i want them to mix them to make a special blend of these 2 colors... can they simply do that ?
(keep it top secret but i want like a really nice gray/silver base with metallic blue mixed it so its like gray/bluish color.... but not just flakes of blue but a whole silver/grey/blue color car....

How exactly does this work

have any pics of a car with this color im talking about ... and also about how much will this paint job cost .. professionally done( or basically im looking to spend 1000.... will this get me a pretty good paint job to last like 5 years?)) thanks alot

Sounds like your talking about a pearl tri stage. The silver would be base then the blue would be a pearl coat which would let the silver come through at certain angles and when the sun hits it right. Then of course a clear after that. 1000? good luck. most paint jobs liek this are much more. The paint alone will cost you $400-$1000 depending on brand. find a friend that is good at painting and have them paint it instead of a pro...when u have a pro paint it..you will pay out the ass.

damm.... thanks alot sounds exactly like what i want.... except for the price .... i think itd look amazing.... how much paint (like gallons or whatever) does it usually take to paint it.... (...mid sportscar size...) and would it help alot if i prepped it myself ? (even though i dont think i am capable/dont wanna mess it up myself)
what exactly in paint would you need ...
primer... base...pearl..clear? and is that all

If you want to prep the car yourself first then you can but you would need to use either a very good quality primer or the actual base color that would be used in the pearl paint. Alot of people prefer doing the prep work themselves especially if they have any knowledge of using bondo or fiberglass as once they get the paint completely pulled off they can mold out what body lines they want and give it a smoother finish. If you are going to prep it yourself then best to start with 1 quarter panel and completely sand it and remove all major dents with dent pulling tools and the smaller dents can be filled in with bondo and then sanded to a very nice smooth finish to cut down on any imperfections during the paint process. After it looks like you want then get a good quality high build primer and tape off the glass on the car and then apply several thin coats of the primer until all bare metal and bondo is well covered. This will greatly cut down on the price of the painting as the person doing the painting will have minimal prep work to do except for final sand and then the paint process. As for the amount of paint needed for a 2 door sports coupe 1 quart of base, pearl, and clear would do it, but of course the deeper you want the color and the more pearl you want the more it will take hence getting into 2 quarts of each. I would recommend getting 1 quart of each as it's a smaller car and should be sufficient to get the job done but for the clear I would look at possibly 2 quarts to get a few layers of clear on it to give it that spectacular shine. hey thanks alot that all really helped... ive been looking at house of kolor for the job for a while..... im just afraid i will mess up on the sanding or do something wrong ..... thanks alot though
