New 06 mustang

My dad is thinking about getting the new 06 mustang. He is looking at this new 06 v6 i know v6 blah, hard top but this thing is as loaded as you can get. it even has the fog lights the gt's have. I has a 10 peace body kit with side skirts front hood scoop anfd more, it is called a extra pony package. So what do you guys think about the 4.0 v6's? what is the hp on them? any recalls or bad things on them yet?

Re: New 06 mustang

I like the pony package, IMO Ford fucked up the grille and rims on the regular 05+ v6's but they picked out the perfect replacments with the bullets and the retro grille. They have 210 hp stock but they still have decient performance for a stock V6, there auto's(witch is a very efficient 5 speed) run low 15's with a average driver and have broken into the 14's with a good driver, and 5 speeds run high 14's all day, im not sure if anyone has run mid 14's i havent done much 4.0 research.

Re: New 06 mustang

my uncle and his son just got new 06 GT's they both took off teh GT front and put on the pony package front...IMO it looks MUCH better

also a manual v6 can hit low 15's if driven well.

Re: New 06 mustang

i like the SN-95 better, no drive by wire, and looks 10000 times better, plus the cologne block sucks, they should have kept the essex and put on 4v heads.

Re: New 06 mustang

we are deciding over a kinda plain gt or this all totaltly loaded v6. how much hp does the gt's have? like 300? You can not tell this v6 is a v6 unless you pop the hood, the hood scoop and body kit make it SO much like a gt, so does the lights in the grill since mostly the gt's have them in the grill. I got to say for a v6, it don't sound that bad either, expesialy for stock. Do they have much performance stuff out yet for the 4.0 v6's?

Re: New 06 mustang

here, it looks idenical to this one, but the one we are looking at has a hood scoop and on the little back windows have vents on them and i think it sits maybe a tad bit lower. But other than that it looks just like this one.

Re: New 06 mustang

Yeah GT's have 300 hp, theres a little aftermarket for 4.0's but not a lot, but it will definatly grow over time.

Re: New 06 mustang

The 4.0 is a good engine, it responds to mods well, but you cant run boost out the @$$ like you could the old essex (justin from VMP running 17psi through a stock motor). take some pics of it because that must be an aftermarket body kit cause S197s dont come with hood scoops

Re: New 06 mustang

Well its just me, but if you have the choice I would go with the plain jane GT. They are fast stock and respond very well to mods. I think that before the car was released there was a bigger aftermarket for the 3v engine than there was for the 2v of the previous year.

Re: New 06 mustang

ya but this is for my dad, he don't care about speed and he wants it too look good, he is like 53 years old, he just had fast cars and he is slowing down now. So i think he will go with the v6. The hood scoop is not a "real" scoop. It is all there and every thing but it is not functional. here is one that looks just like it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...20511955QQrdZ1

Re: New 06 mustang

I still like the new GT style...The fog lights are bigger on the GT than the Pony Package, and the V8 performance is much better than the V6 right from the get go...IMHO
