|
I think i am going to buy a model kit tomorrow
i have little experice with models and i think i might want to spend some time with a model so i need some advice. should i just jump into a level 1 model or should i stick with a 2 for now? 3's r too damn easy to make (20 minutes max). i am going down to hobby shack see if i can find an Impala SS or a caprice, wish me luck and drop some advice if you want :\

I would stay away from the level 2-3 Monagram etc kits for a while. They are not the best kit for having a good finsh and they do take a lot of work and time.
Start off with a simple Tamiya etc road car with a few decals. These kits are great and you dont have to muck around as much getting parts to fit etc. Parts go together well and you can end up with a really good kit to get some ideas on model making.

I spent all my begining modeling years building sci-fi kits. Conveniently enough, any and all mess-up could be called "battle damage." Cars can't use that excuse very often.
 I know I must sound like a Tamiya commercial by now, but their kits are renowned for thier ease of assembly. They're a good bet at first.

Yeah, for sure I would go for the Tamiya kits first time. There is minimal mold flash to clean off, the parts fir beautifully, and the subjects are often very good.
The Tamiya Subaru I am doing on another thread in this forum is a great starters model, and the colours needed are minimal due to the lights being pre-coloured. VicenteFox! ,What sort of car are you looking to do first?

lookin for a 96 impala SS, 90's caprice classic, or almost any B body (cady fleetwood, buick roadmaster), if i don't find any by tamiya (anyone have a list of models?) then i will go with a C5 corvette or a 97 camaro SS.

Hmmm, you don't really know Tamiya. They tend to model Gran Turismo sorta motors like Skyline and Lancers etc, not many American Muscle cars. I know they did the '97 Mustang Vert and the Cobra R, but no Corvettes.
They do a lot of the Japanese Touring series which are great fun, such as the JTCC NSX's and Skylines. Very mean looking!
