Am working on an 85 Dodge Airies with only 18K miles! It won't start. I am using a Haynes repair manual. I have determined there is no juice to the distributor when I am trying to start it. The manual talks about the SSC (spark control computer). I can't find it to do the tests on it! It has a dual connector (10 wires), but nothing matches in the pictues in the manual. How can I find it?

Re: 85 Dodge Airies won't start
not sure bro, on my truck its on the front drivers side fender. Try also the firewall on the drivers side next to relays, thats where GM used to put theirs on older cars. Sorry couldn't be more help.

Re: 85 Dodge Airies won't start
I've read that one common problem is a sensor in the distributor that senses rotation and tells the computer to fire the plugs.

TYPE is right, check around the coil connection at the top of the distributor or on the edges at the bottom of the cap for a connector.

Re: 85 Dodge Airies won't start
Uh-oh....
Time for the red lights!!!! Which motor do you have? the 2.2L chrysler, or the 2.6L mitsubishi (I will not call it a hemi, but they did!) Is this an early Turbo 2.2L? It would be TBI fuel injected if it was, and that could be an issue too. So.... what is it? Assuming it's a "run of the mill" 2.2L carburated 4 cylinder, you could have a bad coil, bad pickup in the distributor, broken distributor gear, broken timing belt, or a bad fuel pump (mechanical). That's a lot of if's...... 18K miles? How long has it been sitting?! Is the fuel in it any good? Ok, we need more info.... Tom
