Question Ignition Cyl Broke In 95 Ranger

Does anyone have any insight as to how to replace the ignition key cyl in a 1995 Ranger? The airbag makes me nervous, otherwise I would just go about removing the steering wheel and getting to it that way. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Ignition Cyl Broke In 95 Ranger

My Ranger is not in my driveway at the moment or I would take a look before I start writing. But here's my guess ..

Put the key in "on" position.
Lift battery cable.
Look for small hole under cylinder. Push upward thru hole with allen wrench to release latch. Pull key to withdraw cylinder.

I've looked for a hole around the cylinder, but I haven't located one. I'm afraid it's not going to be that easy.

Look under the plastic trim around the steering column directly under the lock cylinder. There is a hole with a screw in it and there is a hole that releases the lock cylinder. Follow instructions from previous post.

I assume it's just the opposite to reinstall the new one.
Thanks again!

Have key in on position, slide in. turn to lock and the lock pin will come out and lock by itself.

Re: Ignition Cyl Broke In 95 Ranger

did you by any chance try the windshield wipers after the cylinder broke? did it just click under the dash at the govenor switch, but not move the arms? that's what my 93 is doing i've replaced motor, govenor switch, multi-function switch and still nothing. just the govenor switch clicking. my ignition cylinder is floppy, can turn without a key, but not start, and you can pull the key out without the truck being off. let me know if anything like this happened with yours please.
