Unhappy My 911GT1

Just completed my 911 GT1 but screwed things up along the way.

It all started with my choice of paint. I wanted Tamiya Pure White spray, but the shop I went to did not carry it. The sales person there recommended Racing White, saying that it was more or less the same as pure white. Silly me. My 911 now has a yellowish tint on it.

The body does not seem to fit well onto the chasis. I may have misaligned something during construction. Double

And the decals... what a nightmare.. took me the whole day to get the basics on. And I managed to muck up a few strands as well.

I took some pics, I will post them up when I get my hands on a scanner. Think I will do something with less decals, bulkheads and structural rods for a while.

Next project: Austin Mini Cooper

It's a very nice kit. I love GT cars. Imagine engineering a car to run at competition speeds for 6, 8 or 24 hours!!!

The decals are difficult because there are a lot of "strands", especially for the pattern at the back of the car. Which, incidentally is where I mucked up some of the decals. One strand went under and I could not get it out.

I'll post some pics when I develop the film and get hold of a scanner. Yes. I am still using my old SLR.

Hi,
I don't find the 911 GT1 decals are very difficult ! Just take your time and use maybe soften solution.
Here are 3 pic of mine. It's already 3 years that I built it.

Looking good Xim!
Only that black lines on front hood are too dark.

Nice. The muck ups aren't that obvious (except to me) but it still bugs me. I can't seem to find softening solution here. And all the online stores won't delived liquids over to this country.

I had the same problem with mine. In the end i had to superglue it down with some weight on it to hold it all into place.

Good work twoninety.
The decals are perfect and the engine looks fantastic.
Too bad about the pain.
I had the same problem some years ago when building a Williams
F-07. There were no Pure White so I used Racing White.
I was really disappointed with the final result. I plan to build a new one anyway.

I suppose that Racing White is not a very good colour?
Meaning Pure White have better colour?

Pure White is .... pure white.
Racing White is a white with some yellowish look.
Racing White is not a bad colour if used in the kits that are supposed to be painted with it, like the Honda F1.
Is a bad colour for use as substitution of Pure White.

That's not my model. I have not sent the film for processing yet. Still have about 15 shots left.

Still, I'll post them up when I get the chance. The racing white looks OK after all the decals went on.. maybe I got distracted by all the colours. Initially I was thinking of making the 911 look like it has just run LeMans, with lots of dirt, oil, brake dust, etc to cover up most of the yellowish tint.

Still looking for some reference pics.

Not a good fit

My body didn't fit as well(It was twisted too) and it just didn't go together as it should have.Wheel wells don't look right (Wheels not centered on the back) Everything is where it is suppose to be but for some reason it doesn't look right.
I think it was a Revell kit if I'm not mistaken.
Nice job on your kit!! I'd say it turned out beter than mine!!
