I have a heavy vibration problem when i come up to speed "30 to 40" mph then when i decellarate it gets worse and continues to vibrate to a stop , ive narrowed it down to the rearend , Damn sounds like a ring n pinion.I appreciate any info . anyone experience this or know what i can do to further diagnose this , im on a limited budget and its my only transportation. i put it in n, while driving 4 hi 4low no change ... ujoints are new wheels are new freshly rotated mounted and balanced. driveshaft has the weight on it the problem slowly increased within a week now its undriveable... hmmm maybe a wheel bearing. i dont know how to diagnose a wheel bearing i physicaly shake the wheel and there is no noticable play again any info will help .... thanks ... man 191k blah !!!!!!! HELP

You say the u-joints are new, but check 'em anyway. Get all 4 wheels off the ground in nuetral and park brake off so there's no load on the driveshaft. Check the pinion shaft and the front yoke bushing for play. Ring and pinion going out makes a lot of noise as does the pinion bearing. While it's in the air start it and run it in Drive. Listen and look (but don't touch). If you've got a stethoscope, listen at the tx case also. Good luck and stay clear of anything moving!!..Steve PS: check the bolt torque on the driveshaft to pinion.

Re: 95 tahoe 2dr sport4x4 191k

ok i got it up off the ground and the passenger drum is rubbing on the backing plate ... I need to find axel end play spec. i think the c-clips are shot . I also noticed in park off the ground the play when rotating the tires opposite ways then reverse the direction there was quite a bit of play, original limited slip diff might be tired . Hmmm what do i do next ...?do i drain it pull the c-clips and measure them .? funny thing is the vibration is undrivable but the wear on the edge of drum where it hits the backing plate is almost nonexistent
