DPFE Sensor

I need to replace the DPFE Sensor on my 2000 Windstar. AutoZone does not stock , NAPA doesn't carry it , nor doe's O"Reilly's. I hate to have to by it from Ford! I've had no luck surfing the net either. Any suggestions?

Smile Re: DPFE Sensor

I have two 2000 Windstars to maintain and I did get one DPFEGR sensor from NAPA that was the new plastic sensor. I am making an assumption that it is the DPFEGR sensor that contols the exhaust gas recirulation system that you are talking about. The original is made with an aluminum base that the acids in the exhaust gas have a field day with. When I returned to the NAPA dealer for the second sensor, he had only the aluminum one and I declined it. I will get one from Ford when I need it, if I have to. In the mean time, I'll keep looking for that plastic model as I think about it. Only one sensor out of the two has actually failed. Çhanging the other one is just preventative action, it is just a matter of time before it fails.

Call your Ford Parts man and inquire as to the price and compare that with the price that NAPA or other suppliers would charge if they had one in stock. Sometimes Ford is in line with their prices, not often but sometimes.

Good luck,

Jim

Re: DPFE Sensor

Have your ford dealer run your vin no for recalls.
Some were recalled and updated.
Did you get a recall letter on it?
If not under recall your dealer will have the right one.
Remember OEM dealer parts only hurt one time aftermarket stuff can bite you in the rear many times.
