'88 Ford Escort Problems

I have a couple problems with my '88 Ford Escort that I can seem to figure out.

• The fan in the front of the car turns on and stays on for 5 minutes or more after I turn off the engine. The car is not overheating and I've checked the coolant. Any ideas on what is wrong and how to fix it?
• Another small problem I have noticed is that the driver's side door wont unlock from the outside with a key. I figured the locking mechanism inside the door has come loose, but I can't figure out how to get the door panel off to look inside.
