2.5L-4.0L swap?

Anybody done a 2.5L to a 4.0L engine swap? I heard it bolts to the trans. Anybody know? I know that the ECU would have to be changed as well, just not sure if they bolt together or not.

Re: 2.5L-4.0L swap?

You would be better off trading your Jeep for one with a 4.0.
There is a lot more too it than exchanging the engine, that is the easy part.
The 4.0l would bolt up to your present trans, but the trans would fail within a short time. Most 4cyl Jeeps use the AX-5 manual trans, the 6cly Jeeps use the AX-15. You would want to replace both the engine and trans at the same time. You will nost likely need a donor vehicle to get parts from b/c you will need a lot of stuff and you will need to see how the FI wiring and computer setup go into place.
