Re: Eighties Contest Entry: Lotus 98t Now with pics!

Right then! Proper progress on this one now.

All the suspension components are on and looking good. The brakes and wheels are also on. The wheels have been sprayed with Plasticoat Chrome and the centres brush painted with Plasticoat Gold.

I would like some advise on tire markings like driver name on the tire (AS for Senna etc) as i'm not sure what i need to use and what they wrote on them.

Here's the engine from rear view. I've had to remove the plastic strip that the top of the engine (The bit that had Honda on it that i cant remember the technical name for ) is secured to as the new top was to thick. this was also ground down from the back.

What it will (hopfully!) look like. Well,it might be close to this

Start of scratch build on the engine.

I've created this to be printed on decal paper and put on the top of the engine. I've just printed it and sprayed it with clear coat to prevent the ink from running when i put it on.

Front wing is on and decals applyed. The grey you can see is just dust as it's been left out and i have been to busy with work to do any cleaning round the house The Decals are made by F1 Specialities and are pretty good to use so far. They are at least as good as Studio 27 decals and are way better than Tamiya's.

Here's a good shot of the seat with belts now compleated.

And here's the dash. Oh, and i need to add the bottom part of the seat belts
Just need to add the lotus badge on the wheel.

Well, thats all for now more pics next week. If anyone can help me with making the wheels/tyres more realistic with pics of the tyre writting and how to create it i wold be most greatfull.

Thanks

Paul Temple.

Re: Eighties Contest Entry: Lotus 98t Now with pics!

Sorry, I think you're a bit wrong with some details...
Here's a pic of the 98T's cockpit:

It still utilized analog gauges, no the RPM band as on the 99T.

And I think it will be a bit more to scratch a Renault EF15 engine from the Honda than to change the cam covers. Here some pics:

Welcome to the eighties comp. Gotta love the black and pinstriped JPS livery. Is this a conversion from Tamiya's 99T?

Yeah it's the Tamiya kit. Oh and thanks for the pics Steffen. I cant see myself doing the much more scrath building as this is my very first attempt at it. I will try changing the dash thought.

The seat is made from a stick backed flocking sheet. I think i got the stuff from http://www.hlj.com if i remember rightly. I'm redoing the dash to get it right now.

Re: Eighties Contest Entry: Lotus 98t Now with pics!

Well it's pritty much finnished now. I may do a bit more wiring but i think it looks ok.

I've altered the colours of the engine to make it look a bit more accurite

You can see here i have added clockes to the dash in place of the lcd unit.

Well thats all. hope you like it. I really enjoyed building this one

Thanks

Really, really like this car and this model. The black and gold colour scheme is really memorable and evokes a different time in F1. Keep up the good work.
