fod L8000 power loss while driving

I just bought a 1993 l8000 it has 51000 miles. I was driving home got half way there and i felt the engine kick out on me and the rpms dropped. i pulled over started again and it went fine for a while then it happened again. it seemes like if i push the the clutch and give it gas it picks back up. the engine defitnately layes down. it was dripping oil to (it wasnt when i looked it over and picked it up) it was a 2hour ride on a big highway 55-60 mph. can anyone help me. thanks p.s this truck was sitting for about 6 months.

Re: fod L8000 power loss while driving

cummins 6 cylinder i believe 210hp. took it for another ride this morning and i did not get it to happen till i almost got home. it seems to be doing it at the top of hill. like when the engine starts to bog. again i pushed in the clutch stepped on it and it worked. then it started to do it again and i down shifted and it took right off. its weird. the oil leak is coming from just to the rear of the drain plug there is a plate with four bolts it seems to be dripping from there(is this the main seal?). and its wet up front by the belts too. just my luck i am trying to start a business and im having bad luck from the get go. i know these trucks are notorious for dripping but I cant drip in peoples driveways. I plan on bringing it to a mechanic and having him change all the fluid and filters and fix the oil leak. probably will break the bank
