Whats this thing called?
Hey, I was driving the otehr day, and saw a car (forgot to see what car, but i think it was a chevy cavalier) with this thing coming down from the back end of the car. It had 2 holes for the exhaust gases to come out, and I couldn't see the exhaust/muffler. I'm not sure if the guy just had the thing covering the exhaust/muffler, or if he didn't have a muffler.
I just wanted to know what this was called, and if anyone knows if it is avaliable for 240sx's. |

thats a 'rear valence'
Thats very american style, and I've never seen one for the 240sx. Usually you can get a rear bumper cover that comes down and has a hump cut out of it to go around the muffler.

No prob.
I think the main difference is that most american cars hang the muffler out of sight and then run a tail pipe down to the bumper. Most japanese cars hang the muffler right at the bumper, and there is no tail pipe, just a tip sticking out. Hard to hide that...

i just saw pics of rear valences, and all of them didn't cover the bottom of the exhaust. Is it still called a rear valence if the whole exhaust is surrounded by the thing, and there's just a hole where the exhaust gases come out of and you can't see the exhaust tip?

did you read my last post?
American companies like to call them 'ground effects' Thats a very 80's term and pretty much dead... but why don't you go look for Cavalier body kits until you find what you are looking for and have something custom fitted to your car?

the jap look is so nice, nothing better then a stainless steel muffler canister sticking out the back. Here in america the mufflers are often hidden further towards the middle of the car, and a lot put on chrome tips or extensions for a good look...... no where near as cool as the chromed muffler 'canisters' as I like to call em.
