STi vs. SRT4
It seems like everyone on the STi and EVO boards hates on SRT4s, but I have great respect for them. My friend has a 300 WHP SRT with full coil overs, and his friend has an SRT with 450 WHP, so I know they are very capable. Even stock for stock, the STi and SRT-4 have almost identical power to weight ratios, so they come out very close from a roll.
I was driving home from work, and I left early that day, so there wasn't much traffic. I see an EVO with modified exhaust in front of me, but he doesn't want to play. He still has temporoary tags instead of license plates, so I don't blame him. Then I see an SRT-4 in front of him, and this guy wants to play. I line up next to him, he points forward and I nod. Downshift and get ready, waiting for him to go. We are both jerking trying to get a go at the same time, finally he goes and I hit the gas at almost the same time. For some reason I fly past him, it should have been much closer but within a couple seconds I have 4-5 car lengths and we shut down. We line up a second time, he raises one finger, saying "one more time". Second time, and the same thing happens. We launch at the same time, and within 2 seconds tops, I have like 6 car lenghts on him. At this point I turn around in my seat and look back at him like, what the hell happened? I'm not sure why he got such a bad run two times in a row. Driver error maybe. It looked like hiim and his buddy were doing some real time tuning, so maybe he has someething set wrong and hit boost cut. Or gave up quickly when I passed him. Anyways, he lines up again, raises one finger saying "ok, one more time." I laugh to myself, but nod my head yes. This time he jumps early, maybe he thought that was his only chance. I floor it but he is already 2 car lengths ahead. We are holding dead even from 40-70. Then I start pulling on him very slowly, but we hit traffic and he shuts down. We line up and he rolls the window down to ask what I have done. I tell him nothing but the cat-back and he seems surprised. We give the thumbs up and separate. I'm not sure why the first two runs went so badly for him, it should have been much closer. Even on the third run though, I would have pulled on him if we had more room. |

Re: STi vs. SRT4
I wonder what the guy on the laptop did to make that last run a little more competitive? Sounds like they were fine tuning something and couldn't resist a little fun.

Well times a-wastin! I've already ran two and pulled a small bit on both(sti's). The drivers have actually been suprisingly cool though. I now actually have a lot of respect for those cars.

Re: STi vs. SRT4
well I know it will be a good run in with an evo or a sti.....well at least from a roll...cause we all know those cars are instant death from the dig........but I have raced cars that have raced those cars before and I have beat them....but never had a one on one encounter.....still waiting.......but I know no matter the out come I will still have the same respect for them as I have now.......but I hope I win.............hehehe

Re: STi vs. SRT4
Good kill. He must've had one of the boost leaks that those SRT-4's are known for J/K
I believe an STi will beat an Evo from a roll, unless it is an 06 Evo that is (I believe they have more than the advertised horsepower). I want to buy an Evo again. It may happen come sometime in May.
