Tips on launching....
Ok i have a integra type r and i wanted to know the best way to launch it, they do have limited slip differential whic h makes it harder to launch actually because you have to drop it at higher rpms so it won't bog out and drop out of vtec zone. I noticed you have to get at least 5500-5700 rpms most of the time to get a really good launch other wise, it bogs. So whats a good way of doin this with out hurting the tranny? I used to jsut dump the clutch and slam the gas at like 5600, but then i ended up having to fix my differential cause something went wrong with it, i hear rolling the clutch is better at higher rpms, is this true and any suggestions? thanks for the help
PS. i wanna get the best launch possible with my car. |

I dont think there is really..... Any type of quick launch is gonna strain the Tranny and Flywheel.... I guess if you launch smoothly and not as fast it wouldnt do too much strain on it... But for a Good Reac time your gonna have alot of strain on the tranny.. And it will damage.....Thats y Dragracers replace there Tranny/Flywheel every couple races... Maybe Upgrade the Flywheel to a stronger one.....

Yeah, well i kinda know what they mean by rollin it ive done it before, basically when your launching keep the clutch right before it will grab and keep it at like 3000-3500 rpms then get it up there to like 5000 fast by gunning it, then let go of the clutch barely sort of a "rollin" motion, it seems way better on the car than just dropping the clutch when its fully pressed in, and someone told me it might waste the clutch a little faster, but that better than the tranny or flywheel going. I would also think that when you dump the clutch there always seems like that initial shock when you drop it might actually cause some time off the launch because the shock seems to keep the car in the spot for a little bit, and everything counts on the launch. Just my 2 cents, because it think its kinda weird acura keeps bragging to me how this is a great car yet they didn't even make it to use its full potential.

Just some of my observances...
Torque below 2500rpm is practically non-existant. Don't bother launching below here. you might as well just start at 700rpm idle ![]() Decent torque starts coming into play on GS-R's about 3750 rpm and above. Type-R's probably 4200 and above. This is probably your ideal drop zone, unless you've made significant modifications to your vehicle. (not like you're going to race with the A/C on, but...) The A/C compressor clutch fully locks in at about 3500 rpm. For the sake of keeping accessories from giving you a bogging feeling, make sure to drop above 3500 rpm. If you're using roughly-stock sized wheels with good tires, you'll want to drop at ~4000rpm and maintain 4000 rpms (NOT slam the gas to WOT) until you're almost completely gripped with the road. On the crap Michelin XGT v4's, if you WOT it before you come to full grip, you'll lose grip and just spin again. If you've got 17's that grip like crazy, you may be able to punch it to WOT earlier. Just depends on your wheels, tires, and torque |

Type R's have bridgestone potenzas that accually stick pretty good, yeah i have to rev to at least like 4500-5000 normally and about 5500 with my tire pressure down a bit.
