My roomates '93 had the same problem, it acted just like stopping a stickshift without pushing in the clutch. That car had a blue plug about halfway down the front of the transmission (for the electronic locking torque convertor) once unplugged the stalling stopped.

I may be doing same thing - currently at about $350 and alot of time. Did you unplug the torque converter on your transmission. That was one of the problems but still have the fuel stalling/missing problem. Thanks!

You people always way over-diagnose the TCC problem. The author of this thread also isn't very clear. While the title says "shuts off" and "shakes" the post only mentions "shutting off." If its shaking at a stop, then you're TCC is fine. If its kicking/bucking and then dying at stops after highway-speed driving, then its your TCC.

Your problem sounds like a simple MAP sensor or a TPS sensor, as someone already mentioned.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure about TCC but when I unplugged it the surging at a stop quit. My problem is not solved yet and TPS and Map sensor have been replaced and I have no check engine light on. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks again for reply!
