Automatic tranny ?? - at what maximum
speed can you safely drive in 2nd gear without undue harm? For example, in climbing on long incline.
Never thought to ask this before as I've only once literally kept it in 2nd gear, that was climbing Pike's Peak, I didn't exceed 25mph then.

Re: Automatic tranny ?? - at what maximum
You will only rev up to the rev limiter setpoint for the engine. Maybe 6K? Dunno for sure. Not really the best thing for an engine or trans. Mechanically, gears are actually whirring faster in the trans in 4th/OD.

Re: Automatic tranny ?? - at what maximum
Oh, nope, not me, I personally have never exceeded 4k rpm's in 3rd gear. And have never gone over 4,500 rpm's period, in the life of the truck.
Just wandering if and when I have to take it to 2nd gear - for serious, slow climbing - what the top speed should be, i.e 25mph or so. I have never actually had it in 2nd over 25mph, and would be cautious not to go over 3k rpm's if 2nd was actually needed. I associate L and 2nd gear's for serious slowwwww climbing, and I don't ever recall actually having to use 2nd for more then that Pike's Peak trip; I do use L for pulling the boat up the dock, what is that like, 2mph or so?? Anyway's just curious - thanks!
