defrost froze???

My heat works but the furthest I can go with my knob that switchs between where I want the heat to go is between the floor and floor and defrost I can move the knob over all the way but it goes right back after I let go its like its hung up on something. It just snowed and iced and I got out of work after 12 hours of the car not running the problem started. Maybe something is froze up when I got in the car there was frost on the inside of the window.

Re: defrost froze???

I'm not sure if the neon's controls are all electronic or not, but if the knob to select what vents are on moves a cable, the cable may need to be adjusted. When you try to turn it all the way to defrost and it goes back, do the floor vents still work? or just the defroster?
You can just take apart that part of the dash covering the controls, and see if you can adjust the cable or knob in anyway.

Just an idea :-/ Hope it helps.

I haven't heard of anyone having a problem like this before. I'd try taking off the HVAC controls and looking for any obvious problems.

Well I took off the plate for my knobs everything looks fine I took the top of my dash off and I turned the knob and seen a cable by the defroster I tried to move it with my hand to see if I could make it move but nothing I could hardly get to it so I guess tomorrow I may take the dash apart
